Ford to Recall Over 270,000 Vehicles Due to Battery Concerns

Ford Motor Company is recalling 272,817 vehicles in the United States due to potential battery failure issues, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Affected Models

The recall specifically impacts certain models, including:

  • 2021-2023 Bronco Sport
  • 2022-2023 Maverick

Safety Risks

The issue involves the 12-volt battery, which may degrade and fail unexpectedly. This failure could lead to a loss of electrical accessories, including hazard lights, or result in a loss of drive power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA.

Dealer Response

Affected vehicle owners will be able to have their vehicles inspected by dealers, who will replace the faulty battery at no cost.
